Double New England IPAs are a relatively new style of beer that has quickly become popular among craft beer lovers. These beers are characterized by their hazy appearance, juicy flavor, and high alcohol content. On Friday, Sept. 14, this Double New England IPA was brewed with Breda-based brewery Frontaal.
I was presented during the Meet the Brewer-event where Frontaal was invited to present and poor the first beers of Yankee Punch. I took pictures during this event to use for social media (Instagram and Facebook). After this event, I wrote an article. In writing this article, I focused on the beer style and looked for the history of IPA and the different styles. The article and the beer was also named in the newsletter I created. Lastly, the beer was promoted on screens in the Jopen Church in which I wrote the text.
The main challenge of writing this text was accurately describing the complex flavors of Double New England IPAs in a way that would be interesting and engaging to the reader. I used clear and concise language, as well as by providing helpful comparisons and analogies.
I began by researching the different aspects of Double New England IPAs, and the history of the name of IPA.I interviewed beer sommelier Jelle Yu and American beer expert Chris Bettini to get their insights on Double New England IPAs. Yu and Bettini provided me with a list of possible food pairings for the beer, which I included in the text.
